  1. On ne va pas en faire tout un fromage.
    Let’s not make a huge fuss about it.
    Literally: “We’re not going to make a whole cheese out of it.”
  2. Il y a anguille sous roche.
    There’s something fishy going on.
    Literally: “There’s an eel under the rock.”
  3. Chassez le naturel, il revient au galop.
    Old habits die hard / you can’t suppress your true nature for long.
    Literally: “Drive nature away and it comes galloping back.”
  4. Ce n’est pas demain la veille.
    That’s not going to happen any time soon.
    Literally, rather beautifully: “Tomorrow isn’t the day before it.”
  5. Après la pluie, le beau temps.
    After the rain comes fair weather.
