1. Sikorski says Poland is receiving warnings that Russia is preparing “something big.” Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski said during a Council on Foreign Relations discussion in New York that Polish authorities were receiving information from multiple sources suggesting Russia was preparing a significant action this year. He floated several possible scenarios, including a false-flag operation intended to justify mobilisation, but did not disclose the intelligence or say that Poland itself was necessarily the target.
2. ABW investigates fire at Starlink ground station supplying connectivity towards Ukraine. A fire damaged power equipment at an Exatel-operated Starlink facility in Wola Krobowska near Grójec on Wednesday night. Deputy PM Krzysztof Gawkowski said there were indications it could have been deliberate and described the incident as potentially fitting the pattern of hybrid warfare. ABW is investigating; officials have not established who caused the fire, and investigators are also examining possibilities including an electrical fault. The station remained operational.
3. Priest killed and four others injured in knife attack at Jarosław monastery. Police detained a 31-year-old Ukrainian citizen after five people were attacked at the Benedictine abbey in Jarosław on Thursday morning. A priest later died; two other victims were reported seriously injured. The suspect had reportedly entered Poland from Germany overnight. The motive has not yet been established publicly. Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the killing, while Poland’s Primate appealed for the case not to become a source of ethnic hatred.
4. A new contract for Poland’s first nuclear plant. A Polimex-Mostostal consortium has signed a contract with Bechtel Poland worth about PLN 292.2 million net to design and build two module-assembly buildings for the Choczewo nuclear project. The facilities will be used to prefabricate and assemble large reactor modules for the Westinghouse-Bechtel project.
5. Tusk and Bulgaria’s Rumen Radev discuss a larger EU budget and regional cooperation. Donald Tusk hosted Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev in Warsaw, with economic cooperation, the 2028–34 EU budget, competitiveness, enlargement and migration among the agenda items. The meeting fits Warsaw’s effort to build coalitions among Central and southeastern European states ahead of the next EU financial negotiations.
6. The government’s health reforms move into parliamentary processing. Several health bills approved by the cabinet have now been formally submitted to the Sejm. Among them are proposals for greater transparency in hospital contracting and recruitment, continuation of the current hospital-network arrangements until 2029, and changes to healthcare financing. The package remains politically contentious, particularly around medical remuneration and government efforts to restrain exceptionally high earnings under some hospital contracts.

Poland’s Central Bureau for Combating Cybercrime is examining an incident involving Qbusoft, maker of the Medyc software used for medical-record management. 8. New EBRD forecasts underline Poland’s economic resilience – and fiscal problem. The latest forecasts cited Thursday show Poland still benefiting from an EU-funded investment boom and relatively solid growth, while economists continue to flag the large public deficit and rapidly rising debt as vulnerabilities. Ukraine, meanwhile, faces a substantially weaker growth outlook because of continued Russian attacks and disruption to infrastructure and exports.
9. Fuel remains painfully expensive heading into the weekend. Current national estimates put Pb95 at around PLN 7.86/litre and diesel around PLN 8.83/litre, with significant regional variation. The persistence of high prices keeps pressure on both household budgets and the political debate over tax cuts, price interventions and windfall taxation of energy companies.
10. Poland opens its Nations League campaign tonight. Jan Urban’s side plays Bosnia and Herzegovina at 20:45 at the PGE Narodowy in Warsaw, Poland’s first match in League B of the 2026/27 UEFA Nations League. Robert Lewandowski has said he remains motivated to continue with the national team rather than treating this cycle as an immediate farewell.
